ForestTECH News provides the very latest updates on breaking news, research results, reports and links relevant to forest resource management and planning in Australasia. It’s designed to complement the annual technology events being run by the Forest Industry Engineering Association (FIEA) in New Zealand and Australia and weekly provided through the two weekly forestry e-newsletters, Friday Offcuts and WoodWeek.

As a researcher, technology provider or operational forester, we welcome your contributions or comments to stories posted. Please feel free to add your own links or stories. ForestTECH readers are your contemporaries. It is now a central site or portal for improved communication to this part of the forestry industry.

ForestTECH Events

The ForestTECH series has been run annually since 2007. It is now firmly established as the technology event where forest resource managers, remote sensing and GIS specialists and inventory foresters from throughout Australia and New Zealand meet.

ForestTECH has become the annual platform for showcasing; new remote sensing technologies, advances in satellite imagery, mobile communications developments, systems for improving data collection, analysis and reporting, disseminating results from research and in-forest trials and the integration of this into operational, strategic and financial planning.

Forest Industry Engineering Association (FIEA)

Since 1998 the Forest Industry Engineering Association (FIEA), a division of Innovatek Ltd, has run an extensive series of technology related events for Australasian forest products companies. Over 500 conferences, trade shows and exhibitions have been run for local companies.

FIEA’s objective is to improve the performance and productive capability of forestry and wood products companies in the region. It is now recognized as one of the most effective information providers for the Australasian forestry & wood products industries. Click here for the website
