While drones are already becoming an important tool for forest management, we are only just scratching the surface of what they will be able to do. At a major electronics show in the US, Chinese company EHang showed off a working model of the EHang 184, a huge personal transport drone.
We hear in the news about autonomous cars and trucks slowly making their way onto the road. The EHang 184 is shaping up as one of the first autonomous vehicles moving passengers by air. This will play a major part in the next generation of transport throughout the world.
The drone can fly 100kms per hour and has a current flight time of 25 minutes. There is no ETA on when this will start production, but after 200 test flights, EHang has big plans for the future. This is not ‘just a bigger drone’.
As well as a people mover, its already being lined up as an organ transplant carrier and for use in other medical situations.
The EHang 184 may even see a role within the forestry industry one day…
